WHY
Someone dies every hour of every day from oral cancer. It is now more deadly than cervical, breast, liver, kidney, thyroid, colon, or prostate cancers. Forty percent of those diagnosed with it will be dead in five years. Early detection would improve the survival rate to 80-90 percent.
OrCA
In 2008 Dr. Hamburg founded The Oral Cancer Awareness Foundation, or OrCA (www.oralcancerawareness.com), to spearhead the oral cancer fight in the Hudson Valley and across the U.S. OrCA's mission is to "take a bite out of cancer" by raising awareness of the insidious nature of the disease, that it can be transmitted via oral sex, and that the best way to prevent it is to get screened regularly. OrCA is dedicated to the early detection of this deadly disease by motivating all dentists to regularly screen for oral cancer. Currently, only 20 percent of dentists conduct oral cancer screenings, and most don't use the best available detection technology
KOL
Dr. Larry Hamburg is a dentist who survived Stage IV oral cancer. He has rededicated his life to leading the fight against oral cancer. He is a key opinion leader (KOL) for the Identafi™ 3000 ultra oral detection device.
IDENTAFI
Identafi™ 3000 ultra is the newest, most powerful, and accurate device on the market to screen patients for signs of oral cancer. The patented, next-generation device features optical reflectance and fluorescence oral cancer-detection technology that is changing the diagnostic landscape for dentists and doctors. Identafi™ 3000 ultra uses white, violet, and green-amber wavelengths of light to excite oral tissue in distinct ways. It enables those on the front line of detection to catch early indicators and stages of oral cancer and pre-cancer that are often missed by the naked eye — which is currently the 'default' means of early detection.
